A look inside my Aunt Carla Laemmle’s untouched makeup box that she used in the 1940s when she danced in movies and auditions. Carla had an amazing career dancing as the prima ballerina in 1925’s Phantom of the Opera, and speaking the opening lines in Dracula! Her career spanned decades, and she appeared in films not just for Universal but the other Hollywood studios as well. This makeup box is such a cool glimpse into her life as a performer!
